M Spa International, based in Bangkok Thailand
was conceptualized in June 2005. Prior to this, the company,
formerly known as Mandara Spa (Thailand) Ltd. opened in 1999
and operated the world-famous Mandara Spas in Thailand under
the auspices of a joint venture between Mandara Spa Asia and
Royal Garden Resorts. (Mandara Spa Asia was founded in Bali,
Indonesia in 1995. Today, the company boasts a collection of
more than 70 spas worldwide and is credited for playing a large
role in shaping and popularising the tropical Asian spa experience).
In 2003, with 10 spas already in its portfolio
and seeing further potential for international expansion, an
additional joint venture – Mandara Spa Ventures Ltd – was formed
between the two parties to grow the Mandara brand in the Indo-China
region.
As of November 2004, Mandara Spa (Thailand)
Ltd. and Mandara Spa Ventures Ltd. were taken over 100% by Royal
Garden Resorts of Minor International. Under the revised structure
of the company and with a solid reputation for quality and financial
performance earned under the Mandara name, plans went underway
to form a brand new company through which to expand the Mandara
brand, develop additional branded spa operations to tailor to
different markets and to exploit the phenomenal growth in demand
for well-managed and comprehensive spa facilities within hotels
and resorts world-wide.
Today, with its dynamic new corporate ethos
and strong existing brand image, M Spa International is on course
to become a major international player in the spa sector. Currently
operating a range of 3 spa brands – Mandara Spa – Anantara Spa
– Lanna Spa in 15 spas throughout Thailand and China, the company
already has plans in process to expand into the Middle East
& Africa, India and the Maldives within the next year.
