Dear Friends,

The rebuilding of dreams has begun.  All throughout the Tsunami devastated areas of Thailand villagers are trying to bring back some sense of normalcy to their lives again. With the assistance of the world’s aid agencies and the kind-hearted donations of individuals like you, they are able to make their dreams become a reality.

In the past weeks, many of you have expressed your concern and desire to support the young victims that have been so tragically affected by this indiscriminate disaster.  Left homeless, parentless and traumatized, these little ones along with any remaining family are surely in need.   We are deeply grateful for your generous offers and would be most happy to facilitate the distribution of your donation.  You can imagine the urgency and the uncertainty that comes with such a natural disaster and its aftermath. MINOR International has thoroughly researched different projects, talked with countless school directors and advocates for the poor in order to provide you with what we feel are quality and impacting outlets for your generosity.

Although sponsoring a student seemed to be the top request, after our research we have discovered the government is providing scholarships for the students all throughout the region.  Although the tuition is covered, there remain expenses for uniforms, books, supplies, food and transportation.  Many of these children are now living with relatives, many too old to work and support these young children; the added expenses will cripple the already struggling families.  For these school related sponsorship options, we suggest the following:

1.      US$500 for a yearly sponsorship of the student & family

2.      US$100 for a yearly sponsorship of student’s school incidentals

As we have been researching and discussing the best way to distribute the donated funds, we have witnessed many other self-sustaining and basic needs projects that we found inspiring and suggest supporting:

1.      US$3,750 will pay for supplies & construction of a new fishing boat with engine

2.      US$4,000 will pay for supplies to build a new home for the Morgan Sea Gypsies (the villagers are building the homes themselves in order to keep the cost low)

3.      US$1,400 will pay for  a new noodle shop with cooking supplies, chairs & tables

Sadly, there are so many options because the Tsunami wiped out all sectors of society.  It is our intention only to provide you with suggestions for your generous donations; if you have other desires or suggestions for us, please do not hesitate to share them with us.  The ultimate goal of this crusade of compassion is to help the victims.

Please accept my personal appreciation and gratitude.
