Minor Founder's Day |
We live in a society where:
• Thousands of children and young people end up in
foster care through no fault of their own.
• Necessary non-profit services become unviable or barely survive
because they do not have the money or resources to implement
the best practice that would sustain them into the future.
These are issues that cannot be solved by any one person, |
|
organisation or government initiative. But, working in partnership with other like-minded people
and organisations, we can help to make possible the changes we wish to see in our communities.
Our community partners are effective, responsive, and committed to delivering positive results
in their sectors.

Capacity building is about helping people to help themselves. The focus is on child
education and programs that build the capacity for individuals who need the help most, in
communities throughout Thailand
"If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people"
Chinese proverb

Minor’s focus for some years has been on shoring up the futures of disadvantaged young Thais
across the country.
The cost of this alienation of young people from our society, however you choose to
measure it, is too high.

Community involvement
Economists around the world have striven to attach a dollar value to the volunteering
efforts of thousands of people, across nations, the answers are always in the billions.
But as any volunteer will tell you, volunteering is not about the money.
As Minor employees say, it’s about building and giving back to your community.
They talk about how their volunteer work has brought them a general sense of connection and
well-being that has stood them in good stead in their lives.

Minor promotes community involvement for the same reasons: we believe
that working together to address social and environmental issues is the cornerstone of a strong
society. We may do business in a market; but we live in a community.
